'I'm always looking for the Hows and the Whys and the Whats,' said Muskrat, 'That is why I speak as I do. You've heard of Muskrat's Much-in-Little, of course?'
'No,' said the child. 'What is it?'

Spring 7, or Summer.

The heavy scent of the wisteria hangs over the garden, the climber adorns the arch in front of the fernery, and the forecast is for NO RAIN for the next fourteen (that's 14) days... Summer has arrived in the Bay of Plenty!

Oooh - I love wisteria! I have one, just the same colour. Doesn't it smell wonderful?

  2. It certainly does, and I have another, equally extensive, on the other side of the verandah - but it's slightly mauver, and for some reason is a fortnight or so behind the first. So the house is never showy all at once, but then, it's quite nice 'cos we have wisteria for longer!

Hey, it's nice that you keep coming back and leaving comments. Thanks.

PS. I've just read your 'hole' post. And left a silly comment.

  3. Those pictures strengthen my ambition to visit NZ within the next five years. But do they still do pommy-bashing? Perhaps I'd better take NZ elocution lessons.

  4. Do come YP and Shirley!

I don't know about Pommy-bashing... can't tell you sorry. But NZ has a bit of a self-esteem problem - is very aware we are 'little' and 'way down here away from all the important stuff' - consequently desperate for compliments, and likely to tell you to go back to where you came from if you are critical...

    Don't dare change your accent.

  5. I love Wisteria, too. We've got some growing in our back yard. But its fragrant blossoms are but a memory up in the Northern Hemisphere.

I love reading your blog for many reasons, among them the fact that your seasons are opposite ours.

Man, I'll be tempted to MOVE to NZ if the November elections are stolen again.

  6. Thanks Dan! [Sprinkles happy spring wisteria dust over all the northerners]

  7. Your New Zealand wisteria looks just like our South Carolina wisteria, Katherine! Only we get ours in May! I hope you enjoy a lovely summer.

  8. Thanks Jenni - Northern Hemisphere spring in May, of course. However, if you work it out, we get a much longer summer than you, as our wisteria begins at the end of August. And just to really make you think, the weather is settled here right through to the end of April most years...
