'No,' said the child. 'What is it?'

The farm gate

On the way home from Auckland last week I took a random first turn left and 300 metres up the road pulled in at someone's gate where we stopped for hot tea from the thermos and a biscuit.  Quite nice really, don't you think?

  1. I even enlarged the enlarged version of the photo and went over it with a magnifying glass and I'm sorry but I'm casting doubts on your location.

    I see no sheepies !!

  3. hi Katherine - the farm gate looks like a perfect spot for tea - looks very English to me :-) and makes me feel like climbing over and going to explore...
PS how do i move that award thingy to mine so i can pass it on? i tried the obvious but have quickly exhausted the limits of my abilities

  4. Val, actually it's New Zealand...
To 'get' the award, this is what I would do: Go to that post of mine and click on the award to make it go blue. Drag it onto your desktop. It should appear there as 'love_blog.jpg.'
Then when you have written your post about how honoured you are and how marvelous I am for giving it to you, and making my name link back to my marvelous blog here, and nominate another seven of your favourite blogs, just attach it to the post as you would a photo.

But I have a Mac and things may be much more complicated if you have a PC. Perhaps if my suggestion doesn't work, you could come back here and leave a message and one of my lovely commentators may be able to help.

  5. thanks Katherine - i guessed it was NZ but as farm lands it looks like a picture book all rolling and green - lovely. Evokes childhood memories of english countryside...

Footrot! I remember taking the kids to a kind of theme park and they had a 'Footrot Flats' section! I had forgotten till you said that to Silverback! LOL!

Gosh .. what was it called? Could the whole place have been called Footrot Flats?

  7. 'Footrot Flats' indeed it was. I didn't know about a theme park, it's a cartoon. And still is. I feel a post coming on. Middle son has a huge collection of the books left here. I'll share some here. Quintessential New Zealand East Coast farm.
