'I'm always looking for the Hows and the Whys and the Whats,' said Muskrat, 'That is why I speak as I do. You've heard of Muskrat's Much-in-Little, of course?'
'No,' said the child. 'What is it?'

..and you smell like one too.

When I was growing up we all used to sing this song to each other on our birthdays:

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
You look like a monkey
And you smell like one too.

We used to laugh and laugh as if it was the funniest thing in the world.

You can cyber-sing it to me today, if you like.
'Cos I still think it's funny.

  2. Over here in the motherland it is still Sunday 21st so it isn't yet your birthday even though you imagine it is so I will wish you happy birthday for tomorrow which is your today....The motherland version, at least in East Yorkshire, ended with "You smell like a monkey/ Go back to the zoo!"

  7. How very American of you to have the same birthday as George Washington!

Our version used "stink" instead of "smell"...

Verification word is "hetripti" which looks not like a monkey but as though it could be a real place somewhere in NZ.

  9. Robert, Hetripti is just the other side of Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateapokaiwhenuakitanatahu, which is just the other side of Porangahau, in Hawkes Bay.

  11. February 22nd is also the birthday of Edna St. Vincent Millay and Ted Kennedy. What company you find yourself in!

  12. Judy, I accidentally ate all the other candles. I should have stopped at one glass of the Merlot.

Robert, you may bask in the shine of my reflected glory.
