This Grand Show

Dawn, Sunday 28 March.

"This grand show is eternal. It is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never dried all at once; a shower is forever falling; vapour is ever rising. Eternal sunrise, eternal sunset, eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands, each in its turn, as the round Earth rolls."

John Muir (1838 - 1914)

  2. We would have been looking at similar skies this morning and probably thinking similar thoughts about their beauty. I never cease to be grateful for views like this. To wake up and be able to see them is such a privilege.

  3. Another beautiful photograph, and I love the Muir quotation. It is new to me, but one worth remembering.

  4. Lovely quote for the wonderful picture. I too was reflecting on early morning skies today.

  5. I like the Muir quotation, especially the word gloaming - Roaming in the gloaming on the bonny banks of Clyde.........??

There is a nice old vintage wooden yacht designed by Burt Willacot called 'Gloaming' still sailing in Auckland - not a lot of people know that :-)

  6. It's an obvious truth but sometimes you only see it when the words are clearly articulated.

  7. How rightly he pointed out. It's eternal. If only we could live our lives simultanaeously everywhere at once!
