'No,' said the child. 'What is it?'

Thinking

This morning for the first time since getting out of hospital I am alone in the house. Everyone has been wonderful and my minders obviously think they can trust me not to do things like start a major new art work or mow the lawns. Ha. Fat chance. I am tired even thinking of mowing the lawns! I'll write this, make some breakfast (museli, yoghurt, rhubarb, soy milk) and eat it, wander around the house for half an hour and then, based on the last three days, go back to bed for another three hour's sleep.

But I am thinking about a major new art work...

  1. yes, yes...take it easy, not to rush things and mess up your getting well cycle! Plenty of time for the other things once you are fit again.

  2. Katherine I hope that all is well and you are on the mend again and it's all not too serious. I love, love, your comment - "Ha. Fat chance" - that's the spirit - Rage, rage against anything that will stop you from picking up the threads of this great tapestry we are all weaving together. :-)

  4. I'm so glad to know that you are on the mend. You obviously have an indomitable spirit.

I hope the improvement keeps, well, improving. (I suppose that I should have started that sentence again really.)

Rhubarb!!!! I LOVE rhubarb and mix it with yoghurt too but I'm not a lover of soy milk.

  5. Sis - are you sure you haven't been talking to my minders?

Pal - I re-wrote my post - all the railing is internal at this point. But don't worry - I'm still holding the threads. I've just temporarily forgotten which are warp and which are weft.

    Violet - It's a reproduction: A crosley. http://www.shopping.com/xFS?KW=crosley%20retro%20star%20telephone&BSC=1

    GB. Rhubarb. sweet/sour delight.
    Soy milk because lactose intolerant.

  6. That's an excellent painting Katherine but I don't think you got the flowers quite right. Always remember that in "painting by numbers" you must check that the colour on your brush matches the number indicated.

  8. Rest and rest. I am sure thinking and dreaming of a new major art work is very healthy!

  9. Ha! Too late!

The first bit of starting a Major New Art Work is ALWAYS the thinking about it!

So, now you've gone and done it, starting it and all, you might as well follow through and begin to dwell upon it, it's the only seemly thing to do NOW.

(Plus, one can accomplish this nicely, in pyjamas, in bed. Voilà)

Warm hugs and quiches from Kitty xo

  10. Thanks Meggie and Kitty - I may do one of those conceptual things, where I send an email and get the curators to do it for me.

  11. All this activity happening on your blog, then you turn up home from the hospital. Kind of you to let us know when you were on the mend. Glad you are doing better.

Your accompanying picture dittos my heart...the flowers (love the lilies), the telephone (long time since I've seen one... probably in a James Bond type movie when the scene cuts to the office of the US President.) Also, the art glass. Do you know an NZ artist named Raos? I love his work.

  13. Judy - thanks for your kind comment. The image; I set myself up with a daybed in the study by the window and phone. So it was my little window on the world as I improved slowly last week. And yes! I have looked at Raos's work online. Wonderful!

Beau - Nice thoughts, thank you. I am betterer every day.
