'I'm always looking for the Hows and the Whys and the Whats,' said Muskrat, 'That is why I speak as I do. You've heard of Muskrat's Much-in-Little, of course?'
'No,' said the child. 'What is it?'

Up the Lazy River

Where you would have found us last Saturday afternoon:

Up the lazy river by the old mill stream
That lazy, hazy river where we both can dream
Linger in the shade of an old oak tree
Throw away your troubles, dream a dream with me.

Now I highly recommend you visit this version. It will have you humming all the rest of the day...

  1. We'll be doing this in Texas soon, but most likely in a big inter tube with a board bottom attached.

  3. Who in their right mind would want to return from a place as wondrous as this if they could help it. Not me, surely.

    Such serenity.

  4. Judy - I've done it that way too! But another river...in flood, in a cave system. Neither tranquil nor serene! Post coming soon.

    Have a lovely trip!

Brian - welcome to TLVD. We did indeed have a great day.

Anil - the nice thing is, this river runs by my house, so I don't have to leave it. Unless I have to go to town, that is. And on a hot day, you can bet I return as quickly as I can!

  5. Ever the stickler for accuracy, I must point out that the song Hoagy Carmichael wrote and the talented young man played on the guitar and you used for the title of your post is not "Up the Lazy River." It's "Up A Lazy River"....

    You're welcome.

  6. Robert the Stickler, you are in good company. Fretkiller himself, in his written preamble on this clip, says he changed it to 'The' in his version because he preferred it. You're welcome.
