'No,' said the child. 'What is it?'

Beauty in Unexpected Places

5 comments:

  1. Yes. That is beautiful in so many ways. It's aesthetically beautiful to us. It has a beautiful strength and a beauty of purpose. But everything is a point of view. I expect the first insect to be trapped and eaten might view it differently (and the second for that matter)!

  2. Lovely.

I will say, there is always one place where I can always find beauty, visual or literary, and that's right here.

    Thank you for that, Katherine.

Warm hugs and quiches and best wishes for a hoppy Easter!

  3. Spiders are perhaps the world's most under-rated artists - their creations are all about entrapment and survival - an unexpected place in which to find beauty.

  4. May I be so bold as to suggest to YP that he may be using a very narrow definition of beauty. My understanding is that beauty can be defined as "the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or deep satisfaction to the mind". The very act of entrapment could be thought of as beautiful if executed so that it fell into that definition. I have never seen the film "A Beautiful Mind" but I have always assumed that it refers to a quality other than a physical one.
