'I'm always looking for the Hows and the Whys and the Whats,' said Muskrat, 'That is why I speak as I do. You've heard of Muskrat's Much-in-Little, of course?'
'No,' said the child. 'What is it?'

Down at the Beach

Some images from last week's dusk picnic on the beach.  We had shark 'n taties and watched the moon rise.

It must be Shirley Valentine...

Looking south-ish towards Whakatane

Looking north-ish - the hill on the far end of the spit
is Mount Maunganui - an extinct volcano.

Getting dark.  Time to go home.

  3. I had to look up what shark ’n taties are. NZ fish and chips.
I always did that on the beach in Zandvoort NL. You have dunes there as well? We more watched the sinking sun than the rising moon, because we were looking west. Is summer coming along well?

  4. A touch of nostalgia there Katherine. A couple of years ago when staying at a friend's bach there I walked the length of that beach as the sun went down. I didn't manage any photos like that though.

  5. Magnificent (both the locale and your photographs). My favorite place in all the world is a beach. My favorite object out of this world is the full moon.

Except for the extinct volcano, your beach reminds me of New Smyrna Beach in Florida.

  6. Lovely pictures that accidentally capture the feeling of personal space that you have in New Zealand and possibly take for granted.

  7. Thanks for your comments everyone. Summer is progressing Ben ... although lots of wind recently - you may have heard our Auckland news yesterday.
