'I'm always looking for the Hows and the Whys and the Whats,' said Muskrat, 'That is why I speak as I do. You've heard of Muskrat's Much-in-Little, of course?'
'No,' said the child. 'What is it?'

Happy 2013

It has arrived.  2013, that is.  Looks like it's going to be a lovely year, judging by the dawn here today.

5 am

6 am
6.30 am.
Here is my little video clip of 5ish and 6ish am this morning.  I took it standing on my front porch (rather precariously balanced on the top rung of the seat, so please forgive a few noises).
You can hear the tui in the first half, then, as the day brightens, a thrush, finches and a sacred kingfisher that was standing on the garage roof.
A few minutes after I came inside after the first half the possum scruffled and scrimmyed up inside the wall and into the ceiling and went to bed for the day.

    1. Yes John. It's likely to hold a bit of both, I expect. Love to you and Chris.

    1. PS. Clouds are clouds and movement in plates under your feet is different they are called tetrionik plate shifters.I think. I could be wrong but pray for you that the tetrionik plates shift at an appropriate moment.
      Have fun.

    3. (Thinks: Why does Adrian's "show us yer painting" sound slightly ..er.. cheeky?)

  3. Unfortunately our dawn here in The Bay was rather less clear and still than yours. I didn't go outside to hear the birds though. I went back to bed to get some more sleep! I got back to The Cottage not too long after midnight and then spent ages communicating about the New Year to people who still had hours to go. Some still have!

  4. Oh, that video was lovely - took me right back to the year we spent in your beautiful country in the 80s. There was a tui that used to sit in a tree at the playcentre where I took young Son No. 2 and I loved to hear it!

Happy New Year to you, too! May it be kind to you. :)

  5. A year is a good time to spend in a country. I'm hoping to do that for the UK/ Europe in 2014 - 15. Many may think me barmy, but, as I mentioned in your comment box, I want to experience a Northern Hemisphere winter, something I've never done.
I've also always wanted to see the Northern Lights... incredibly conveniently I also have a second cousin once removed who has a house in Lapland...

Did you or YS work here?
