'I'm always looking for the Hows and the Whys and the Whats,' said Muskrat, 'That is why I speak as I do. You've heard of Muskrat's Much-in-Little, of course?'
'No,' said the child. 'What is it?'

Early Walk

I got a call on my cell phone this morning at 4 am.
A few years ago I got a spate of these - a Florida travel agency saying I was being offered a marvelous deal - three days at some Florida resort for only 100 bucks. When I expressed my delight but asked were they also going to fly me there from New Zealand they stopped calling, thank goodness.

I stupidly put my cell phone as a back-up for my Yahoo account two days ago.  They are on to me again I suspect.

Anyway, I missed the call but was still wide awake 30 mins later.  So, as there was a little light in the sky, I decided not to waste the lovely coolness and got up and went for a walk around the park, something I haven't done since I broke my ankle back in January.

It was lovely.  Very wet grass from the rain the last two days.  A low, ephemeral mist was ponded across the sports fields.  Enough clouds to make the sky interesting.  I really should get up earlier more often.

It's still only 6.30am.  What shall I do with the rest of this wonderful day?

The river is still dark and spooky

  2. Well done you Katherine. I used to love the freedom of those early morning walks ~ not quite as early as you though ~ but saying good morning to people! filling the lungs with clean air! the quiet before the traffic. It sets you up for a great day ~ enjoy!

  3. 4am is a bit early for me too. Our weather today here in The Bay wouldn't have tempted me out anyway it's very windy and cloudy although I have hopes after the sun and 30 deg yesterday.

  4. I love the feeling of getting up extra early. It is such a magical time, the rest of the day never quite lives up to it!

    1. That's an interesting thought Jenny. True today anyway. I've been yawning all morning and I fell asleep in the bath!

    1. I didn't realise you worked nights Sanna. You return home when everyone else is just beginning their day...

  7. At least I waited until the sun was up - the ducks were still asleep in its warmth.
