Earlier this week there was snow at sea level for three days in a row in Wellington, and the coldest Auckland temperatures since 1960 ...
And here in Tauranga, roughly half way between the two, due to my very low-tech blanket, my hibiscus still shows no frost burn, and due to a wooly hat, coat and scarf, I am still alive too!
Stinking hot here... we're expecting temps of up to 40 C.

Cro, Red, I knew the warmth was SOMEWHERE! Red, you might laugh at me moaning. However my house has no central heating, like many older houses here in NZ. So we are not as cosy inside.

Extremes are everywhere. We just had a night of minus 1,5 (in summer) and day temperatures of 28. The result is low daytime humidity, what I like.
