'I'm always looking for the Hows and the Whys and the Whats,' said Muskrat, 'That is why I speak as I do. You've heard of Muskrat's Much-in-Little, of course?'
'No,' said the child. 'What is it?'

Bay of Plenty Sunset

Only a week until the wedding! It's getting busy around here! Tomorrow is the official Groom's Parents Meet the Bride's Parents to Arrange the Wedding. Of course this is already arranged. We are having instead a colonial-sounding High Tea and a tour of the Zealong Tea Estate instead. It should be rather diverting darhlings.
I will take a photo or two for you.
In the meantime, here's a sunset from a place near here, up the coast a bit.

  1. Not terribly keen on weddings, which is probably why my own was celebrated in Gibraltar; 'very quietly'.

  2. Don't forget to hold your pinky finger out when you lift up your tea cup and eat your cucumber sandwiches with suitable aplomb, we don't want you letting the side down. And we, your fans will require a photograph of you in your full regalia - that goes without saying!

  3. Oh, Alden, never stick your finger out as you hold a teacup. And never poke your fingers through the space in the handle either. Hold the cup handle as if it is a solid piece. Remember that girl in Titanic who deliberately rattled her spoon in the teacup to show she was rebellious?
The tea plantation sounds very interesting. I have friends who own one but I have never been there. Please take some photos.
Did you make special clothes for this occasion? I have been hanging by a thread as you prepared for this series of ceremonies. Those fabrics you showed us were very lovely.

  4. Louise, I feel suitably chastised. My mum always told me she "couldn't take me anywhere". She also told me that the HM the Queens teapot is always rotated 3 times clockwise and then 3 times counterclockwise to get the best out of a brew of tea. Whilst listening to this advice I am sure she said something about doing something with pinky fingers, but maybe she was referring to where grubby little boys are apt to put their fingers. After reading your advice I now have an overwhelming urge to rattle my teaspoon rather loudly after my next cup of tea - which proves my mother was correct.

    1. You are a gem, Alden. Customs change over time. My mother also had stories to reinforce what she wanted from her children. The Queen was the Official Partner In Crime for many mothers I suspect. According to my mother the Queen loved Brussels sprouts and so should I. But the spinning teapot image is a beauty. We will both rattle our teaspoons.

  5. And how the next week will fly by.
