Along with a whole lot of other plants and animals much more unsuitable to this isolated island paradise. Or should I say, more suitable - because they took over and ousted or endangered the indigenous populations. Hmmm, blog post material...Katehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12453125929159161583noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8519638191408360845.post-77213912988152117922009-01-10T13:29:00.000+13:002009-01-10T13:29:00.000+13:00Like Mr Kinder said - Worms have feelings too! By the way how come your thrushes look like English thrushes when you are on the edge of the known world?Yorkshire Puddinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06019673884543913089noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8519638191408360845.post-81728093579390579472009-01-10T11:49:00.000+13:002009-01-10T11:49:00.000+13:00Well Dan, I've solved the worm cutting up problem....Well Dan, I've solved the worm cutting up problem. I don't know if you'd approve, but I just feed 'em to 'em whole now.
Re humans, they are quite wary of any humans unless you come bearing gifts - ie a bottle or ... as from yesterday, a spoon.

Lori ann - Noooo! I don't want to be a thrush mummy for ever! :-)

Jay - they like their food raw and wriggling! (like Gollum). Something for me? Coool!

Debby, thanks for dropping by. I'm going to work toward a 'soft release', but I think Dan's right, watching them with a snail today, I think they'll have an innate knowledge of what to do. And they learn a lot quicker than human children!Katehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12453125929159161583noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8519638191408360845.post-32022071436989695362009-01-10T10:56:00.000+13:002009-01-10T10:56:00.000+13:00Wow...and I thought potty training a toddler was a...Wow...and I thought potty training a toddler was a tough chore! At least there are books on that subject. I don't think I could bring myself to cutting them up. Even to feed to a hungry V and A.
Worms have feelings, too.

As far as helping them learn to find their own food, I think they'll figure it out. I'd worry about what they haven't learned: that those two legged creatures in clothes can be murderous. Only the most special ones are gentle, like you.Dan Gurneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11628603380292404658noreply@blogger.com
