'I'm always looking for the Hows and the Whys and the Whats,' said Muskrat, 'That is why I speak as I do. You've heard of Muskrat's Much-in-Little, of course?'
'No,' said the child. 'What is it?'

Sunset - Firth of Thames

I couldn't resist this lemon and soft blue chiffon Miranda sky on Wednesday night. A pale pink headdress adorned the clouds.

And it then about ten minutes later it had donned a different garment; showy and more flamboyant as the colours became intensified. That old Miranda magic at work again.

  2. Dawn and dusk are my favorite times of day. We've been enjoying them this spring. Coffee on the deck as the birds wake up...soon the light and color emerges. What joy. Still cool enough to enjoy the sun setting outside. The poppies and larkspur are standing tall and in full bloom. Tomatoes are blooming. Still waiting for the tropical plants that wintered in the storeroom to come out after a particularly tough winter. Bluebonners, Indian paintbrushes and buttercups line many of the road ways. Thank goodness for those fall rains. Last summer saw 29 days of 100 degrees or above and only 13 inches of rain. This spring is truly a blessed event.

  3. Miranda is the name of my eldest daughter. What does it mean in 'sky terms'?
    Very beautiful sunsets. Very calming.
    Thank you, Katherine.

  4. Sis, Bettyl, glad you like it.
Judy. To me, watching the dawn or dusk is so free, so available, but always a special treat! You paint a delicious picture of a pleasant time of year in a hot part of the world.
After a dry summer here, we are still hoping for more autumn rains to grow the grass needed for winter feed for livestock. But the cool nights are a welcome relief.

Kitty - Miranda is a lovely name! It means 'admirable', doesn't it? (I just looked it up). A Miranda sky is one that you see in the vicinity of Miranda, a place on the Firth of Thames, in New Zealand, which is where I've been visiting the last three days.
