'I'm always looking for the Hows and the Whys and the Whats,' said Muskrat, 'That is why I speak as I do. You've heard of Muskrat's Much-in-Little, of course?'
Yes Helsie, our fantails are the only bird I have ever heard of that will choose to come indoors. I expect they see it as simply another part of the forest - albeit a part that is only SOMETIMES accessible! They check it out, eat whatever is available in the way of bugs, and then unhurriedly leave.
I've blogged before and taken photos of Fantails in The Cottage where they will quite happily come, ignore me and even sit on the chair back at the same table and then wander round seeing what there is in the ay of insects for them to eat. However I have never ever managed to get a decent video of one. So I am really really envious of your video. I don't think many people will realise just how hard that was to achieve.
Good to see your visitor wasn't panicked about being inside like some birds are. He's certainly a sweet little fellow.

ReplyDeleteGeeb... I know about your wonderful photos of fantails... that is hard! But, just to set the record straight, it's not my vid.
