'I'm always looking for the Hows and the Whys and the Whats,' said Muskrat, 'That is why I speak as I do. You've heard of Muskrat's Much-in-Little, of course?'
'No,' said the child. 'What is it?'

Poppies

There She is.  Opening the Flanders Memorial Garden.  And, out of interest, that's my distant cousin in the black coat.  I bask in the reflected glory shine on his helmet.

  1. The guardsmen in grey look a rather ill-matched group; that would never happen in China.

  2. Yes Cro. I must say I was amused by the one that is making no effort to hide that he is interested in the goings on. He reminds me of a drawing of Spike Milligan's. Of Ekkles.

    1. He also forgot to look in the mirror before leaving barracks.

    1. It wasn't long ago completed John. Surely it will be around a while yet?

    2. It had better not be! We have ordered one of those poppies and I don't want any delay regarding its dispatch.

    3. Oh how interesting! You are the first person I know who is actually buying one. My I see it if I am ever invited to cross the hallowed portal of Pudding Towers?

  4. Who? Oh. You mean The Queen. (Not having one, other than Michelle Obama, we U.S.A. folk can be slow on the uptake.) I finally recognized her by her hat, her hair, and her shoes. But where is the ever-present purse?

  6. Hi again Kate!
Your cousin looks fine and dandy, ready for action! What's with the grey coats on the other guys, surely a nice bright red outfit would be better! Government cutbacks ? :)

    1. Hi Brian I suppose the colour of the coats is a nice indicator of rank… you have to have something to aspire to I guess. I expect Grey-Coats lie in bed at night under their grey blankets thinking 'O it will be so much better when I am a Black-Coat and have a black blanket to sleep under at night.'

  7. Pleased to see that you used a capital "S" when referring to Her Majesty as "She". In so doing you have avoided beheading.

    1. That's a relief. Actually, I wouldn't dream of doing otherwise. I was well brought up by two English parents, remember. The first words I said were 'Shall we go UP to London today Mother and Father?'

Actually they were probably more likely to be a poem from AA Milne. Which is much the same, really.
