'No,' said the child. 'What is it?'

Kate's Quick and Easy Curtains

A few years ago there was a great sale on duvet (quilt) covers so I bought two super-king size ones in a pleasant fabric.
Yesterday I sewed some curtain hook tape across the top of each one and voila! Instant lined curtains.
Now I just need to pop out for a couple of corded tie-backs and a pair of brass hooks and we will be very genteel in the lounge.

  2. I do not usually picture you as the domestic type, but you have done yourself proud!

  3. Thank you ladies and gentleman. I should have mentioned that the buttoned opening is best downwards, as it takes up any discrepancy in the final lengths of the curtains and linings, if you see what I mean. Luckily, if there is a pattern, it has usually been oriented to the pillow end up, anyway.

  5. All our curtains were white Indian bedspreads (with tassels).

    2. I have just realised as I wrote those words that MY white Indian bedspread is on the settee. And that I was sitting on it. Tassels and all.

  6. What a superb idea and such a good colour combination (but then one would expect that from you after all).

  7. The curtains are very nice - What I think is exquisite is the solid brass window opening ensemble - I love the little curly bits on the window handle openers.

  8. What a great tip. I can manage sewing curtain tape, but linings just seemed too complicated for me, so I shall copy you, I think!

  9. Thanks Helsie, GB.
Alden, they ARE nice, aren't they? They were here when we arrived. There are lots of nice brass & etc. bits and pieces in this house.
Rachel, I agree. Much better to let someone else do the linings.
