Autumn

A last pelagonium of the season shows off its pretty throat in a patch of warm autumn sunshine.

  1. I've never really been aware of pelagoniums (pelogonia?) being so beautiful. In fact I can't recall any in gardens I know. I'll have to keep an eye open for them.

  2. It's almost as if that pinky violet colour has been painted on by a watercolourist.

  3. 'Tis the last pelagonium of summer
    Left blooming alone;
    All her lovely companions
    Are faded and gone;
    No flower of her kindred,
    No pelagoniumbud is nigh,
    To reflect back her blushes,
    To give sigh for sigh.

    Doesn't have the same ring, somehow.

  4. GB - the flowers we used to call geraniums...

    YP - Exactly what I was thinking.

    Robert - Aw, I don't know. The first line's a bit long, but it passes muster, I think.
