'I'm always looking for the Hows and the Whys and the Whats,' said Muskrat, 'That is why I speak as I do. You've heard of Muskrat's Much-in-Little, of course?'
'No,' said the child. 'What is it?'

Garage Sale
Tomorrow morning early, we hope for hoards through the gate, running in up the drive, pushing each other to be there first, to pick excitedly over our personal belongings, rejecting scornfully things we have held dear for decades and part with reluctantly, delighting in everything and offering us more than we asked for them.

I have spent more years than I like to remember as a teacher writing signs with a vivid marker just like this one (Different words not Garage Sale) - I could have actually written this sign - I always write hollow letters like this and then fill them in with vivid / or not as the case may be - AND - Your 'S' is like mine, always problematic, fat at the bottom and skinny cramped at the top, so hard to get the S correct!
ReplyDeleteAnd I do wonder if there is a man somewhere called Tom Orrow.
I know his sister Betty; B Orrow.
DeleteI think all us teachers write signs. I have a stencil (that went in the garage sale) that I used to use. Latterly it was all printed out on the photocopier.
DeleteGood luck!
ReplyDeleteThank you Monica! I got rid of just enough to make it worthwhile. Some has gone to the Op Shop, and rest will trickle onto TradeMe the website.
DeleteI love the irony in this short post. I've done garage sales and I'm afraid I'll have to do some more. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteThanks Red. I am always very gratified if someone 'gets' my funny.
DeleteWell, how did it go ???
ReplyDeleteNew post made just for you Helsie.
