It's been many years since I watched more than a few minutes of television. I find it disturbing and stressful. TV saps my creativity and wastes my time. I keep up with the news by listening to the radio and online. Don't think for yourself. Watch television.
Cartoon by New Zealand scientist/cartoonist Nick Kim
They used to say that religion was the opium of the masses, perhaps it is now TV. I applaud you for holding this devil at arm's length. I wish I could be as strong.
ReplyDeleteThank you YP. It's a personal choice only. Many I know find relaxation, entertainment and companionship from TV. I watch movies 'tho'!
ReplyDeleteI do adore the Food Network.
ReplyDeleteIs that recipes Debby?
ReplyDeleteIt does, it truly does! We watch very little TV these days. We usually tape what truly interests us and watch it later.
ReplyDeleteI started to watch daytime TV because I needed something to keep my mind occupied while on the treadmill. Even for twenty minutes or so it was driving me crazy!
Tapes. Old VHS tapes. At least I can watch Billy Connolly and have a laugh. ;)
Food Network is a channel committed to, well, food! There are several different chefs that have shows and show us how to fix different recipes. I find them very entertaining and addicting. There are also shows that tell us where the food comes from, and how it gets from there to your plate that I find interesting. This site tells all about it. http://www.foodnetwork.com/
ReplyDeleteI agree that much television is rubbish - but some is wonderful! Through television I have seen places that I'll never see in real life. It's a real "window on the world" for me. I don't agree that it's a "devil" - of course it can be, but, watched selectively, it can be life-enhancing.
ReplyDeleteI'm in shock. My beloved tv is taking a bashing.
ReplyDeleteThere, there, idiot box in the corner. She doesn't mean it.
What's that you say ? Leave you on ALL day ? Well sure. Anything you say.
Laughter @ Silverback. (Incidentally I thought you were a gorilla when I first 'met' you.)
ReplyDeleteThat's being a bit personal isn't it, Katherine !! I like to just say I'm hirsute.
