Every now and then our friends will phone up and say "Shall we take Tilly out on a date?" or something like that. It's an old-fashioned name, and Tilly's an old-fashioned girl.
Tilly Twinfold is my old two-burner gas barbecue cooker. She's a little corker, and, with her small blue bottle, a bit of salad, some crusty rolls and a few sausages, is just the thing to make a pleasant evening on the beach even pleasanter.
Here's what it looked like at Pilot Bay last Sunday. Bliss!
And that's another NZ word I will have to remember - "tilly" = cooker. It's all very confusing. And how come those children in the first photo are only as big as seagulls? Are the children borrowers or are the gulls overfed?
ReplyDeleteI have a wee charcoal barbeque - the model is called little chief - made in a Christchurch factory probably 30 years ago. It has a plate only about 30cm diameter. I haven't taken it out and about but it too is very cool to use. :)
ReplyDeleteYP. They are a special kind of Herring Gull we get down here - they prey on children.
