'No,' said the child. 'What is it?'

Conversation about Roses Turkish Delight chocolates

Me: Would you like a chocolate?

Son: Yes, please. Did you know that when ---- worked for Cadbury's she was in charge of the machine that made the marks on the top of the Roses turkish delights?

Me:  Oh really?

Son: Yes.  And one time, after she'd left, she bought a box and the turkish delight had no marks on it and she got really mad and emailed her old work-mates and told them off.  Apparently the machine had been playing up.

  1. Opps sorry YP. It was possibly an accidental click that deleted your comment. Did it go something like:
"Did New Zealand have the same TV slogan for Roses? "Roses grow on you". The last picture looks like a brown alien with three eyebrows." ?

My response is: I have no eye-browed-deer if that was the Roses Chockky advert as I haven't watched telly for about 30 years. And yes, it does look like a brown alien with three eyebrows. Sort of. With a stretch of the imagination. And possibly after seven hours home decorating and three Tetley's.

  2. I'd be pretty upset too if I couldn't identify my favourite Roses choccie.

  3. Too bloody right; a chock without its pattern is a sin (not that I eat chocks).

    1. Yes Cro, especially if you're our friend - she is very passionate about everything she does. Or, as in this case, everything she did!

    2. So for you Cro, it's 'Chocks Away'? (laughs at own joke until she chokes on her own spit.)

  4. When I was a kid, no one in my family wanted the Turkish Delights - so we ended up eating them, against our will, in February when there were no more treats in the house ... but now I actually quite like them.
    Just saying!
    Happy Christmas!!

    1. Yes, it's an interesting phenomena Brian. We never used to like them either. I can't quite bring myself to like the plain chocolate Roses. 'tho. It seems a swizz to have them in a box when all the others have centres.
Happy Christmas to you and yours, too!
